Tonight we can truly say together we are invincible

Speech taken during my birthday party in Van Leewenhoeksingel 21BG, namely my house! on June 7th...

"After the first speech taken during my "goodbye party", which by the way turned out to be a fake goodbye (thanks God) a lot of people asked me to do it again and I m very glad and available to repeat that experience tonight.

So I just wanna say a couple of words to make this night more meaningful.

This afternoon my mama and my papa called me up to say “Happy Birthday my dear son”, and they said: ”It's the first birthday ever that you don't celebrate at home with us: I wish you could be here with us to celebrate it together as we've always done year after year”…adorable, aren’t they?

I take this phrase to tell you something (probably the most important thing I realised since I’ve lived abroad), I'm sure that everybody in the house knows what I m talking about..

When you live in another country for a long while you start missing your family and your friends very much and you really understand how much they can be essential in your life.

On the other hand..

you know a lot of new people, you make friends and you recreate your own world in another place. In other words, you start realising that you have to live on your own way and create your own family somewhere else.

I m not saying that I wanna get married tomorrow here in Holland. hehehe not at all. I m sorry ladies, I m not available for that… heheheh

I just wanna say that when you're are abroad discovering a new world, YOUR FRIENDS BECOME YOUR FAMILY.

Some people here know almost everything about me, some others have just entered my reality. Whoever you are...it doesn't matter. If you’re here it means that you have a kind of connection with my life, so you're all welcome.. unless you just came for the free beers but you couldn’t find any..

I wanna take another phrase, this time from a song by Muse, a band that I deeply adore. I wanna dedicate this song to you. Please hold on one second and think about the meaning it has, personally it makes a lot of sense to me...it says: “Tonight we can truly say, together we are invincible”.

Finally, I wanna say: what actually matters is that tonight I'm having awesome time and I'm not missing my family, my Italian friends, my own country…yeah, actually I do but just a little bit.

And if I feel like that, it’s partly because I’m a party animal and I like talking to everyone.. hehehe
